< Back to all Board members

Dr. Linda Alvarez is an entrepreneur and food choice advocate whose career has spanned from clinical medicine to the CPG space, centering on the connection between nutrition, health, and consumer choice. She earned her medical degree from New York Medical College and later completed an Executive MBA at Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. Her interest in nutrition began early in her medical training and has remained a consistent thread throughout her career.

While in medical school, Linda took a year-long sabbatical including nutrition and medicinal plants as part of her studies. She carried this interest into her subsequent career in medicine, where she incorporated nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices into her work with patients. Over time, she became increasingly interested in the broader food system and in how the availability, quality, and transparency of food products can influence the choices consumers are able to make.

Linda eventually brought her medical and nutrition background into entrepreneurship as the co-founder of Levelle Nutrition, a women’s sports nutrition company focused on providing high-quality, plant-based nutritional products. Building the company gave her firsthand experience across product development, ingredient sourcing, manufacturing, consumer education, and the challenges of bringing healthier food choices to market. Her work at the intersection of medicine, nutrition, and consumer products has reinforced her belief in the importance of transparency and integrity throughout the food system.

Throughout her career, Linda has continued to explore ways to advance healthier and more informed food choices. She has advised entrepreneurs through Cornell’s eLab and participated in initiatives focused on food integrity, nutrition, and the future of the food system. She brings to her work with the Non-GMO Project a perspective shaped by both the scientific and practical sides of food and nutrition—from caring for patients to developing products for consumers—and a longstanding commitment to helping people make informed choices about the food they eat.
