Madi Burke

Special Projects & Recruiting Coordinator

Growing up in a family of Italians in a small, agricultural town, Madi learned early on that food was something to celebrate. From years of watching the Food Network with her mom, to the routine excitement of family gatherings centered around the enjoyment and appreciation of good food, Madi has always been aware of the power and meaning that food creates.

While she studied Speech Communication and Sociology at Whitworth University, Madi developed an interest in discovering how people and systems respond to their environments, and how access to basic needs like good food, shelter, community, etc. impact overall quality of life. After graduating with her Bachelor’s, Madi moved to Seattle and worked with a technology company as a business consultant, and then transitioned into leading biking and hiking trips around America’s national parks with an international active travel company called Backroads.

These days Madi is happy to nestle into the cozy nooks and crannies of quirky Bellingham– taking in all the mountains, bioluminescence and coffee the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
