The Non-GMO Project is excited to welcome Cameron Miller as the Director of Client Experience!
What interests you about working with the Non-GMO Project- what about this opportunity caught your attention?
After eighteen years of a successful career that spanned a number of disciplines, but never quite aligned with a deeper sense of purpose, I was eager to find a purposed-aligned career opportunity. Sustainable food systems have been an interest of mine since childhood. The Non-GMO Project fits well with my interests and provides the sense of purpose I was previously missing in my career. I’m super excited to be here!
How do you think your prior experience will help you in working with the Non-GMO project?
My diverse background seems to fit perfectly with my role as Director of Client Experience. I grew up working on a large farm in the Palouse area of eastern Washington, giving me great context for the overall food system in America. I’ve also volunteered for several food system related non-profits over the years. Professionally, I’ve been a dedicated six sigma black belt, focused on quality and process improvement. I’ve helped lead the business development function of a company from start-up to significant scale. I’ve also managed marketing and product development at various times in my career. All combined, I’m excited that these experiences position me well to help increase the impact of the Non-GMO Project’s Mission.
What is important to you about the work you will be doing with the Project?
I believe in the sacredness of nature, and that mother nature has more wisdom than our mastery of science can match. Therefore, in order to address our food system challenges and needs, I believe that we need to work with nature to cultivate all that she has to offer. I believe that this approach creates resilience and strength that stands in stark contrast to the fragile nature of genetically engineered crops, which are typically grown as a monocrop with intensive chemical inputs.
