(204) 882-2565 ext. 2266
Viterra Canola Processing is excited to announce that it has received Non-GMO Project Verification for its Non-GMO and Non-GMO Omega-9 (high oleic) expeller-pressed canola oils. Viterra is producing and marketing the first canola oils in North America to be verified by the Non-GMO Project.
The Non-GMO Project is North America’s only independent standard of best practices that specializes in methods of traceability and identity preservation in grains and oilseeds for the production of seed, food, supplements, personal care products, and animal feed.
Viterra’s canola processing plant in St. Agathe, Manitoba, Canada produces an all-natural canola oil that is manufactured using an expeller-pressed process which maintains the natural nutritional value for food applications. Omega-9™ expeller-pressed canola oil represents the “next generation” of naturally stable cooking oils which allow food manufacturers to deliver healthier foods without compromising taste or performance.
Viterra is very pleased to be the first canola processing plant in North America to receive this special certification. According to Bruce McTavish, Director of Sales & Marketing, “Our success has been built on our relationships and our ability to consistently supply quality products to customers with diverse needs. Our canola processing facility is one of the largest expeller-pressed oilseed plants in the world, and with our considerable strength in the area of traceability and identity preservation, we are able to answer a growing demand by consumers who want healthier food choices.”
