Saraya Canada proudly announced today that LAKANTO® Monk Fruit sweetener has been verified by the Non-GMO Project.
“We aim to provide our customers with the best tasting, healthiest and most reliable products we can,” said Margarita Valou, President of Saraya Canada. “Having the Non-GMO Project’s trusted third-party verification reflects our commitment to health, nature and transparency.”
LAKANTO® was specially formulated to closely match the taste, sweetness and versatility of sugar. It contains erythritol, made from fermented glucose from certified non-GMO corn and pure extracts of Monk Fruit, a fruit famous for its non-caloric sweetness components.
LAKANTO® is vegan, gluten free and certified Kosher, and in 2014, it was declared a USA Taste Champion by the American Masters of Taste, a prestigious national panel of corporate and executive chefs.
“We fully support the movement toward safe, natural food and are grateful for the work of the Non-GMO Project in establishing a trusted standard,” added Ms. Valou.
The sweetener comes in two varieties: LAKANTO® Classic, with clean sweetness just like plain white sugar, and LAKANTO® Golden, which has a robust brown sugar taste. Both varieties have no aftertaste and can be used just like sugar.
All LAKANTO® products are produced in compliance with the Non-GMO Project Standard, meaning the company follows rigorous best practices for avoiding GMO contamination, and that the ingredients do not contain any GMOs.

About the Non-GMO Project
The Non-GMO Project offers North America’s only independent verification for products made according to rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance. With GMOs now present in more than 80% of conventional processed food, choosing Non-GMO Project Verified is the most reliable way for your family to avoid GMOs.
GMOs are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses, and other animals and plants. These experimental combinations of genes cross the natural species barrier and have not been proven safe.
