Verification Claims

For the first 18 months that enrollment in the Product Verification Program (PVP) is open (until the fall of 2009), no public verification claims will be allowed. This transition period will create an opportunity to refine the program based on stakeholder input, and offer an equal chance for all participants to achieve compliance.

During the initial transition period, the Project will allow and promote Participation Claims. Beginning in early summer 2008, the Project website will offer a publicly-searchable list of products that are enrolled in the PVP. This list of products will also be made available to retailers via UNFI Monthly Specials Catalogues, our Retailer e-Newsletter, and other industry publications. This promotion will prepare consumers to be familiar with the Project and primed to look for the “Non-GMO Project Verified” seal when it is launched in fall 2009.
