Growing up on a small island on the Olympic Peninsula, Nikki’s appreciation for local, organic and non-GMO food started in her own backyard where she was immersed in organic farming, wild harvesting and sustainable fishing practices. When she moved to Bellingham in 2000, she discovered her passion for health and wellness and her capacity to support individuals on their respective healing journeys. Nikki received a BS in Pre Physical Therapy in 2008 and shortly thereafter focused her efforts on therapeutic massage therapy. She diversified her professional experience in the health and wellness industry by owning and operating her own massage therapy clinic, teaching annual Thai Yoga Massage Retreats in Thailand and Costa Rica, completing her 200h Yoga Teacher Training, and joyfully satisfying the role of the Director of Operations at The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy in Samara, Costa Rica. Her facilitation of the 4-month study abroad immersion program provided her with the tools and professional capacity to fully embody the supportive, efficient and highly organized Executive Coordinator role at the Non-GMO Project.
Nikki arrived at the Non-GMO Project with a deeply rooted and unique perspective of the innate healing properties of whole foods. She has a passion for stewardship and advocacy for this planet and the life that it supports, and she is full of gratitude to be able to apply her diverse work experience toward the Project. When Nikki is out of the office, she spends her time getting her hands dirty in the garden, bikes and hikes around Whatcom County, flies co-pilot alongside her boyfriend, spoils her pup and snowboards at the always lovely, Mount Baker.
